CNN Debut Update

June 12, 2008

I’ve got the details on my CNN appearance earlier this week. Here’s how the event went down… what a mess:

A picture of the cover of How to Self-Destruct. So far, so good.
Of course, I freaked out and started to cry just as we went on the air.
During what I thought was a commercial break, I had a huge burp. Too bad I was still live.
I settled into my pompous, bobble-head windbag routine. In our 3 minute segment, the show received a record number of calls complaining. Gerri Willis, the anchor, was shocked by my bombast.
They were all so glad to see me go that Gerri actually blew me a kiss goodbye.

Actually, the piece went pretty well; these were just some funny stills that caught my attention from the tape so I made up a story around them. In reality, I neither cried nor belched on air, and I kept the bombast to a bare minimum. Despite my rookie-ness, Gerri was the total professional and did everything she could to make me look good. Thank you, CNN, and thank you, Gerri!

Like I’ve said, my new favorite cable news show: CNN’s Issue #1!

I’m not posting the video because I’d maybe like to be on CNN again in the future, and I don’t think they’d appreciate me loading up their content. I do link to the transcript in this previous post, and the tape has made it into my EPK for those of you who want it for professional purposes.
