Damn Chocolate

May 18, 2008

I hit the gym for the first time in about three months last Friday. It’s Sunday night and I still hurt. I don’t look any better; I just hurt.

Why don’t I look any better? Because yesterday, when I got back into town, what greeted me in the kitchen? That’s right: a box of cupcakes, confectioner-quality peanut butter cups, chocolate covered almonds, and dried apricots.

Proudly, I ate the apricots. Which I then washed down with a massive handful of chocolate covered almonds and a peanut butter cup or two. Which wouldn’t have been so bad if I hadn’t already eaten nearly the entire thing of trail mix on the plane.

Dammit.

At least I made it to the gym, right? By the end of this week, I hope to have my routine back… if I can get there, managing my sweet tooth won’t be an issue; it’s a lot easier to eat healthy when you’re pushing your body and actually need food for energy.

Funny, how bad habits beget bad habits, and good habits beget good habits.
