USA: Please, At Least Show Me a Convertible!

Dear American Government,

Any new cool convertibles in the works?

See, I figure that you clearly don’t know how to govern anymore, so since you did such a great job with the GM bailout sort of, I thought maybe you could just focus on your strengths and build me a kickin’ drop top.

I know lots of people are up in arms this week about The Shakedown. Government’s fuzzy relationship with business isn’t actually as unprecedented as some would have us believe. It’s just taking now as opposed to giving.

Either way, it’s a mess.

So let’s just jump to the end, shall we? Because we know exactly how this story plays out:

Government people clearly don’t understand business. Which means they’ll continue to meddle. Meanwhile, our two political parties both yell and stomp about the abuses of the other, and with each jab they grab a little bit of power for themselves. And since government is a zero-sum game, they’ll start reaching more and more into business for power.

Leaving you and me screwed.

So.

Given that, I think I’d rather be screwed in a convertible.

After all, with this whole global warming weather wackiness thing unstoppably… happening, I figure that irrespective of what’s happening under the cherry blossoms of DC, Chicago’ll see palm trees here within the next few years.

And I’m not talking about the potted ones they put up on Oak Street Beach every summer.

I mean real ones.

Which is why I want a convertible.

USA, can you help me out?

Maybe a nice Camaro convertible? Or even a topless CTS-V?

Just wondering.

Because if we’re all going to hell, I’d prefer a nicer mode of transportation than a handbasket.

Yeah, you can’t govern worth a damn, but I sure do like those cars you’ve started putting out.

And you know, it sure would give me a reason to hope again.
