Wow, thank you!

Nearly 60 people turned out to help launch How to Self-Destruct tonight at the Apple Store in Chicago! In a theater with 48 seats, that means it was SRO, baby!

How to Self-Destruct is more than a book; it’s a brand. It’s executive-strength professional development, tailored to the needs and ambitions of Gens X & Y. And because Mary Poppins taught us that a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, How to Self-Destruct is cleverly disguised as entertainment: think of it as Tony Robbins’ message in a School House Rocks! format… with a bit of “Avenue Q” edge. When people ask me why I launched at the Apple Store, my answer is that books launch bookstores; brands don’t. Brands launch in brand stores.

Special thanks to Fred Koehn and Jesse Stratton of Retrospective Pictures for translating the vision into a book trailer as well as you did. Like Han & Chewie, you took an idea from cantina to a place I couldn’t even imagine, and you did it without breaking a sweat. Guys, we’re only $750k away from Episodes 2-5… and these won’t be trailers, but actual content. We’ve got to make it happen. The response tonight–the smiles, the applause, the turnout–we’ve got something. We’ve got the content, we’ve got the know-how, and we’ve got the talent. We’ve even got your camera dog. Let’s get the funds.

Special thanks also to Apple, and Patricia at the Michigan Avenue store for making this all possible. Patricia, we missed you tonight! I look forward to seeing you so I can express my gratitude in person. FYI, I left 5 copies of the book with Josh; make sure he doesn’t eBay all of them right away.
