When I was a young child, I got lost in the Macy’s in Herald Square, which was at that time the largest department store in the world. I got lost there – at Christmas time. It was one of those “stay right here, we’ll look at the coats” sort of moments. Of course, the parents took FOREVER so I figured I’d go look for them. I was old enough to know that – once I found myself lost – I should tell someone who worked at the store. So, I did. The person called security, who took me to the (no lie) “lost parent office.” While I waited for my parents to come get me, the guard and I played cards. I didn’t cry…until I saw my mommy.

@Willy—I could say that, but I’d be lying. I was very gracious all day, even when my parents refused to take paddle boats out on the lake.

I got lost in the French Quarter when I was about 5, but all remember is the ice cream my parents bought me when I was discovered. And my older sister still hasn’t forgiven my parents for finding me and bringing me back home.
