Martina Navratilova and Failure

September 3, 2010

According to Parade Magazine, Martina Navratilova—arguably the world’s greatest tennis player, with a total of 59 Grand Slam titles (18 singles titles; 31 doubles title; and 10 mixed doubles titles)—attributes her success to a willingness to fail.

Specifically, she was asked, “What is it that you… have that champions need?”

Her answer: “I think the ability to fail. Not being afraid to put it all on the line and come up short. Most people don’t have that.”

Are you consistently coming up short?

Lay it on the line.

Risk the fail.
