Baya, human beings tend to avoid others who emit vibes of fear, desperation, anxiety, and the like. The problem is, if you're feeling these things, the LAST thing you need is for other people to avoid you. That can touch off a negative cycle that can be very difficult to break.

However, it must be broken. And here's the rub: it must either be broken from the outside—by someone taking you under his/her wing—or from the inside, through a unilaterally altered perspective. Waiting for someone else to come along is not a strategy... it's a long shot. Expecting to be helped while giving off repellent vibes is like acting like a cactus and then expecting a hug.

In terms of fixing your attitude from the inside, I work within the bounds of normal behavior—day-to-day stresses, typical job decisions, that kind of stuff. If your nervousness that is impacting your behavior in a generalized way, think about seeking help from a licensed psychologist, not a career coach.

The situation you pose above could be nothing, but it also could be indicative of something bigger—and I'd hate for you to leave with the mistaken impression that behavior-affecting nervousness is something that can be solved with a pithy response on a blog!

If you want to explore the benefits of coaching, call me directly. However, my gut tells me, by the way you framed your post, that I am likely not the type of service provider you need.
