Every October and November, I hear from smaller clients who want to vet their year-end bonus policies with me… and every year about this time, I get feedback as to how closely they hit (or missed) the mark with their employees.I know there are countless mitigating factors that impact bonus structure, including industry, total benefits package, vacation policies, and the like… and that there are services out there one can hire to make sense of it all…But for smaller companies that aren’t about to hire compensation firms, a quick straw poll might be useful for planning next year. What have you historically received, as a percentage of income? Does your company always pay a bonus? When it does pay one, how much is it: <1%? 3%? 10%? 50%? Nothing?I know this question borders on being overly sensitive, and I have no idea how many of my readers will be willing to share related information. Please don’t feel compelled to share state secrets. Any information you would be willing to post as a reply, or email to me, would be appreciated… I?ll convert information sent to me privately (assuming I get any!) into anonymous information and post it at a later date. You can email me at jason@seidenleadership.com
