I’m young at heart? Apparently no one told my body.

April 15, 2007

Fact #1: My brain does not feel the aging process.

Fact #2: My body does. It can’t handle things like it used to, making strenuous activities like shovelling, typing, stretching, and getting out of bed far more dangerous than they used to be.

Therefore, the aging process will naturally create opportunities for my brain to wrongly commit my body to things that were once–but are no longer–within it’s level of ability. Pain and an MRI will surely follow.

Of course, even I have to admit, being able to complain about not being able to do the stuff I used to do is far better than the alternative! So, gimme that Naproxen, bring on the wrist splint, and let’s hear all the bad jokes about how I sprained it, because this is one self-destruction tactic I’ll gladly sign up for again and again!
