What do you do if you find yourself on a team of underwhelming talent?
First of all, recognize that you’re probably not the high flyer you think you are. Even if you’re better than all of those other goofs, there is a strong chance that your superlative work is a matter of degrees and not absolutes. And if you run the company, it’s best to assume that your team is a reflection of how you see yourself. Harsh reality? Maybe. But necessary.
Second, accept said harsh reality. Take a few deep breaths if you need to. Let it in. Sit with it. Make peace with it.
And third, start improving yourself rather than others. If you’re truly the leader you fancy yourself, then others will see your effort to improve and follow you. That’s how leadership works. And with your newly found self-awareness, you can be secure in the knowledge that you’re leading others to make the right kind of changes.

best part “start improving yourself rather than others” Too many people just complain and fall into the “why should I work so hard, when these guys are idiots.”
That only causes greater resentment and creates a reciprocating doom loop of complaining and depression.
Build your skills and continue to make yourself a better team member. If no-one else rises to the challenge, at least when you leave you are not worse than when you started.
@Michael—I think you just put your finger right on it.
