Why HR Must Embrace Workforce Marketing

Monster recently interviewed me about Workforce Marketing™ and the impact it’s having on HR. This video is short, sweet, and to the point (email subscribers, click to the site to view the email).

Key takeaways:

  • The way in which we communicate is fundamentally changing the way we interact with brands. Outside stakeholders can now do an end run around official messaging by connecting with people who work at the company.
  • These communication changes are also redefining the value proposition between employer and employee. (This statement leads to a bigger story that’s beyond the scope of this video.)
  • Impact: Organizations need to engage employees in getting the word out about their brand and/or employer brand. Employees’ messaging needs to line up with organizational messaging so that outsiders get a consistent message.
  • Impact: Organizations need to change the way they execute talent development. It’s not so much that they need to rethink things, it’s more that they have to make good on a long-standing promise to align the employees’ and employer’s interests.
